And ignored button... *sigh*
Even I would like to have the edit button too, it has also some disadvantages. Some péople can write some messages, receive up votes and then they can change the text to something pretty different.
then they will be downvoted ;)
the problem that I see is that soem people can change their statements in discussions or manipulate them in rather unpleasent manner
But overall- I want to edit button cause I just want to eliminate all mistakes and all logical errors that I ave made unintentionally due to cutting sentence, copy pasting in wrong place or just accidentally asdding some text randomly
What about tracking your previous comments? This's been a problem for long as we must scroll down for ages.. waiting for updates on stronghold page.
Some kind of comment history on your profile, which shows you all the comments you made, where you made them and when. It may be a hellish job to implement that, but the results will be worth it I guess.
Good point!
The 'timeline' we have now only shows the where and when, but not the comments themselves. And by clicking on one it only brings you to the top of the page, instead of to the comment. That should be changed, if possible.
Its actually very easy to implement, right now they most likely query database based on time, but each comment should also have user id as key which should be used as lookup and parent comment id which could be used as sort. Depends on the database structure, but should be possible to do in matter of few hours (together with increasing commnet size).
It drives me mad that I cannot find my previous comments by the other way then by rolling down.
But maybe the link button will be in your comments section.
well, one can hope
Any idea when we're going to get the Community, Media and Game&World sections? I mean, this is a community after all, we should definately have our own 'tavern' where we can post threads, continue discussions etc...or is that not what this section is going to be about?
Not a bad idea. But I guess they are waiting for a bigger demand for that.
I hope it will be soon. The best decisions are made in the "tavern". :D
At least there is going to be something for the 'Community', and I think it would be obvious to make it a forum of sorts. After all, this is the official MMH7 website and will definately remain present after the game is released. The article section may disappear, but that's when the forum comes in handy. We can still return here and discuss things in our own threads and topics. Of course, HC is already a source for that, but still.
It would be nice if they also made this site a formal way of exchanging community made maps =)
Also, the Community section as a forum will allow the non-English fanbase to create their own threads, so at least we won't have a dozen languages mixed together in one comment section.
@modo666: Not without a good drink to get the mind going, of course! :)
@Emerald:
I guess that counts as UGC, which is actually an achievemement here. If there's going to be a forum, 'we' can dedicate a thread to the exchanging of fan-made art work, whatever it may be :).
Well, it came sooner than what I expected, although expected Edit button coming along. Anyway, potato.
Another thing that would be FABULOUS was the voting articles having no comments. After voting, the place clearly becomes a zone of war and people almost begging, demanding, threatening or whatever-else-ing to compel others do their bidding. It's the utter circus of horrors there.
Yes, first day of votes was surprisingly calm and pleasant, than came typical wars. I still dont understand why, all concept are fine.
This Suss, is the most fluffly ideas of all !!!
No comments for the votings. + 1000 if I could.
It brings nothing constructive, and create wars inside the community again.
But this is probably the last voting (at least big one) so ... Damn this is just so obvious, we no one thought of it before ... Just vote and wait for the results. Discuss on proper forums. So much more sane lol
I disagree. I actually like comments in voting. It gives people a chance to "campaign" a choice, so for people who are on the edge of 2 choices, the comments could give them a tip towards a choice.
Of course the wars will emerge, but if you don't like the comments then don't read them and just cast your vote. And besides, someone can just use a concurrent thread and mention the vote thread and air their opinion there, which is much worse since it's off-topic wrt the thread.
And what is wrong with wars?
So what, if they are not constructive in any way. But they are fun and they help making the time go bay. So what is really the harm in them.
Well as long as ppl stay civil (even if it is hard to do that) i have no problems with it. But it just looks like some ppl can't do without cursing or beeing personall.
Well, I'm against those campaigns. Having no comments would make people act a bit more like themselves.
Discussions carry over to other threads anyway, it's an overall problem of contents, and other people get involved in it, no matter if they chose or not read that on the other thread in first place.
I would like seeing those voting polls on the sides, regarding general opinion on a certain matter: "Are you happy with this? And this?" Those could grasp a bit more the general mood of people.
Finally, I`m glad you added features that will help make this site a cleaner place! Some comments were really nasty and they always came from the same people... -.-
And don`t forget to add the edit button in the future =)
Well, this is all nice and dandy, but why not a post count too? You devs do understand that if the number of posts is limited, people would think twice before they post junk, right?
Exactly. I vote for a quieter yet wiser council for the best feedback to gather for the devs.
+1
A well thought comment >>> A hundred senseless comments
This Sandro only supports that once we get the character limit increased or removed. As is I can't put out my whole idea in one post in most cases. This makes it difficult, for me at least, to give good commentary without multi-posting. Although I do admit that sometimes I ramble a bit.
Лучше бы добавили возможность поиска своего последнего комментария, очень не хватает.

Better would have added the ability to search your last comment, is not enough.

Totally agree with you. ^^ This should be added as well. We need to be able to search comfortably our own comments.
Im with u guys, one of the most important addition we need yet is the search option (and edit button ofc)!

Off-topic just for sec ;)
If you wanted ever swamp faction in Ashan world, you don't have to wonder what it would look like ever again!
Me and Articun created a faction, whole line-up 5/5/3, Townscreen, enviroment, hero classes, History, Culture, everything !

Hope you like it :)
This post no place here, but you two did an amazing job. Perhaps this factions finds it's way to heroes 8...
Yep this is all well and good but I would rather have edit before linking and reporting.
Another thing about this website that should be changed is have different-languaged comment sites for each article...this way one would not be spammed with tons of comments one cannot read, much less understand!
Yes, please. This side is overloaded with Russian and Polish comments - separate comment sections for these two languages would be very welcome.
I think it would be difficult to do. There are two options. One the person who writes the comment would choose which language is the post in, but I think there would be people that would choose different language just because they are trolls. The second option would be to assign post to languages automaticly but I don't know if it is possible and there would be problems with posts that are written in 2 or more languages.
Slingeris,
Do you know why? Coz Polish and Russian M&M communities are the biggest one.
Regarding Polish comments, I didn't see much of them except some spammer named Kaspar.
There could be an option to just filter out languages you don't want to see.
I just simple ignore them. I have nothing better to do anyway :P.
@JedynyHex:
That may be true, but it does not make the situation any better. I see two possible reasons they post in their native language except english: a) they don't know english (well enough) or b) they do not want to use english.
If a) is true, not only their comments are spam for those not understanding Russian, but the English comments are spam for them, too. If b) is true, they probably would also like a section dedicated to their language better.
Either way, splitting could help.
@Antonsky:
Well, I think both would be possible and there are solutons to the problems you mention.
For people posting in the wrong language: well, one can report them.
For problems with automatic language recognition:The site could check if it's certrain which language it is, and if not, simply ask the user who wrote the comment.
Nice news (Y) but please give us bigger avatar selection
Actually, I'd like to have a WORKING avatar selection screen.
Since the day this system was implemented, I can't seem to be able to change my avatar. The page loads, but no images appear, I can only press the button to skip/close the page. :(
Dear developers, can we search posts from both directions (latest and the old ones)? It is really hard to find some early written posts when you need to refer to them. Thank you in advance.
Thank you for developing the site!
However this website doesn't have features which are required for any blog with comments, for example:
- Edit and delete comments
- Comments pagination
- Search in comments
- Reply to reply (comments tree)
- Down vote comments
- Weblinks recognition in comment text
I'm against down votes because there surely would be trolls who would downvote everyone.
Oh, thank heavens! Some moderation and bans are very badly needed.
I also second the call for some language options. There are a few different linguistic communities in the comments, and it would be useful to be able to sort out e.g. English comments from Russian comments.
Why don't Russians make any effort to write in English like we do in others countries ?
