So no Phoenix :( shame, it was very cool
No unicorns. I hated those things. Replacing them with Moon Doe/ Sun Deer was the smart move.
I wanted the strength but I changed my vote to fury because balance was going to win(no phinex in I rollan)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn I just understood why Fury won.
This was all an evil-scheme from Ubisoft to get their Warcraft in :P
Thought the dryads could be this badass https://forum.subterraneangames.com/attachments/dryads-jpg.561/ or this one http://www.mythicalcreatureslist.com/images/gallery/image30.jpg not this defenseless spirit that looks like the Spring Spirit
So, quick fun fact about this vote result. I see some people saying we need to vote again because the 45% for Fury is <50% and does not represent a majority. I plugged the results into a Chi-Square Goodness of Fit calculator to see how likely the results were. Results in next post. Disclaimer: I voted Fury, so I got the lineup I wanted.
So, I went to ( http://www.quantpsy.org/chisq/chisq.htm ) and used the second table for expected frequencies. Because we had three choices, I said our expected frequency for each was 33%. So, for group 1 (Fury) the observed frequency was 45 with the expected at 33. Group 2 (Balance) was 37/33. Group 3 (Strength) was 18/33. I clicked calculate. The results show a Yates p-values of .0046. Interpretation in next post.
A Yates p-value of .0046 shows a statistically significant relationship for these variables. Based on the outcome, the chances of getting the 33/33/33 split expected are 46 in 10,000. This means the observed outcome is reliable as the will of the people.
You do realize that the chance for a line-up being chosen isn't really 1/3 (unless they really just pick it on random without any thought)? The line-ups have differences and they also represent different things. If you take into account that both strength and balance were more classic line-ups(influenced by h3 and h2) in units and being fairly close to each other. They also were both more classical in play-style being more focused in tactics and unit-abilities rather than brute damage(fury).
Also back then there were some disappointed fortress voters like dwarfurious who voted fury vocally so sylvan would suck the most. Some of those people may also have had change of heart and try make the game as good as possible so they could get fortress later. Now they have had time to think things through. And besides, we've been asking for 2nd round(at least most of us), not re-vote between all three options. If fury win 2nd round I'll accept it, no problem.
In addition to what Ramboursina said, you also have some people like myself who didn't know another installment was being made until just a week or two ago and would vote for anything but Fury. Also, that calculator seems to be intended for a totally random system which voting is not, at least not usually.
Additionally, in Dungeon it was even more likely that faces would win needing only 3% of the votes and being the balanced line up so the other two would have had to favor their polar opposites but there was still a second vote. Here, Sylanna's Fury does need only 6% but those votes must come from the lineup that is most its opposite or from members of Earth who change their vote..
Good point, ramborusina. Let's assume, as your first post in this thread seems to indicate, that you expected more people to vote for Strength and Balance. Instead of the spread I used, try expected of 20% for Fury and 40% each for the other two. Now the p-value is so small that the calculator reports it as zero. In other words, it makes the results even stronger and more accurate.
Niwroc, can you restate the first part of your post, please? I am not sure what you mean by "didn't know another installment was being made." Not sure what that was in reference to and how it applies to the Sylvan lineup vote. Thanks for your time.
The problem is that you just throw random numbers there what is to be expected. What about if instead of 20% you use 80%? You have no clue what the real expectancy is/was in reality. There are so many variables when it comes to voting. Notice how sometimes in real life elections somebody is expected to win by far and in the end they get beaten bad? Just single scandal, one thing they didn't count on happened and everything was upside down. You're ignoring too many things to make reliable calculus
What I meant by not knowing another installment was being made is that I, and I'm sure some others as well, were unaware that Heroes 7 was in development until after that vote had ended. So this would mean that now there are more legitimate accounts than there were before so just guesstimating that means there is probably a few extra percent of voter and I've seen a few others here who did not know about the game or the vote until after this vote was over and would not have voted for Fury.
Niwroc, thanks so much. Now I completely understand your point, and I agree that more people know about and use the site today than when that vote took place. Where we disagree is that I do not believe that--for whatever reason--a glut of would-be anti-Fury voters just found out about MMH7. I'm not sure what special characteristic of anti-Fury voters would make them find out later. I still think our original vote accurately reflects community wishes.
ramborusina, I concede that I arbitrarily assigned expected frequencies. As the math works out, the more you expected Fury to lose, the more reliable the results become (i.e. the chances of a random sample containing many Fury voters is lower). Now, I am seeing, with Niwroc's help that you likely mean you would expect it lose now in a new vote. I still have doubts but cannot accurately project without knowing the number of voters of active accounts then vs. active account now, as you say. Cheers
I know how the math works which is why I simply chose the 80% knowing how it would effect the math on general level. Not like I really expect that to be the truth, but to simply show you that you can easily manipulate math regarding case such as this especially since there are in reality so many variables that effect the outcome. The simplest way of course would be to just have to 2nd round vote... If you are correct fury wins and no harm done, if you're wrong majority wins.
WTF?! There are no griffins?! I don't know what is this, but surely it is not the Sylvan line-up. This is sooooo disapointing :(
...You mean... you expected Griffins in Sylvan...?
You're new here, aren't you? Sylvan has never had anything to do with griffins.
Griffins belonged to the Preserve Nature town in H4, so it isn't all too strange, really. And in H1 and 2, they were Warlock-associated, rather than Castle/Knight. Griffins have been factionhopping quite a bit xD.
I think that there is a lot of SYLVAN FANS who are DISAPPOINTED with the win of the Fury so PLEASE MAKE AT LEAST SOME ADJUSTMENT'S IN THE LINE UP!!!
I agree with you perfectly here, this line-up is the worst it could be, it is most probably that there wasn't enough time for the votes. Like myself, I only loged in a few days ago, so if there would be another chance for voting the Sylvan line-up i would vote for anything else but this. Maybe if the developers see more negative reactions for these results they will give us a second chance, at least I,m hoping it.
Is there any chance to have Second ROUND of voting for Sylvan.. I just believe that you reacted late and that Fury won was undeservedly!!! In any other vote Round after second or third day of voting votes percent didn't moved to much. And Fury overtake Balance after fifth day of voting!!! PLEASE GIVE US SECOND ROUND OF VOTING FOR SYLVAN AND WATCH FROM START WHO IS CHEATING! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!
So fury would have won anyway... guess we'll have to learn living with it...
PLEASE BRING THE UNICORNS BACK!!!
too much fairys!! bring Unicorns back!!!
*Facepalm*. Too much Elves. Way too much. I want Unicorns.
Wow, too much Elves in an Evles' faction. Go pray in your church for unicorns, puny human.
