It's good that they don't stand out, IMO. I mean, it makes perfect sense when it comes to a battle. Makes the enemy think "What am I supposed to shoot with that catapult? Fu**ing branches!"
@SimbaelTristis - Dragon Shrine is clearly further away than Archery Platform.
The only thing that I don't like is... that it's night themed. The townscreen itself is beautiful, but to me, Sylvan is all about the dawn side like H5 (That's why I find it weird that you upgrade Moon Doe into a Sun Stag...)

When there is a battle, you see the siege battlefield, not the townscreen lol
Ubisoft screwed up when they asked Blackhole to basically omit town screens in 6, and then come 7 they still want to scale them back, so they pretty much asked an artist what the best way was to make multiple 2D town screens on a budget. It is a good idea, just a bit sad that a corner was cut at all regarding town screens. This level of detail with more unique town screens would have made this a heroes to remember.
Town screens, to me, are the heart of the game.

PLEASE, i say it again: when we build, we need to see the build action, with or without a sound, and see how is appearing in the townscreen, after doing click in the building screen, to see where the building is built, like the past Heroes games.
Agreed. In the Beta, you selected a building for construction and went back to the Town Screen, not knowing where the hell the building had been placed...only by carefully looking around could one discover it.
Agreed as well! Townscreen looks awesome and would benefit from the "show-what-building-you-just-built" feature!

-Sylanna's infinit gift has a door open on nothing
-golden path... isn't a path, just an other building
-fontain of restauration... usualy, fontains are inside towns
-Treant sanctum and dragon shrine are on clives outside of the city ? I don't see...
-Town portal is... flying ? Oo
-How elves go outside of there city ? No bridge, no boat...
But at least : beautyfull colors and true wall.
I miss H2-3 townscreen, beautyfull, logic and easy to read. It's not a matter a technology, nor financial mean... just not puting building randomly on an ununderstandeble background.
If theres something wrong its blacksmith on the top of the tree. Fountain on peuceful place outside the town fits weel.

Overall its beautiful, but same with pixie. i expected smth different from syllanas fury, even if i havent voted for it.
Well I would understand criticising the lack of logic in stronghold or necropolis town, but here a lot of things are justifiable. This fountain doesn't need to be used as a source of water for villagers for example. I think it's nice. One thing that bothers me is that every building is the same size. It looks like christmas tree instead of elvish town.

But it doesn't look like a night anymore. That's the problem with the night atmosphere. Either it looks too dark so you can't see anything or it's too bright so it's doesn't look like night.
@mr3LiON i am sorry but how many times was it that they did anything to those ts? There were only a few artwork that actually got a redesign the rest of them stayed the same.
@mr3LiON Ok, made it darker and still looks better than orginal, because it's not only dark or light version but the heu and highlights and shadows that make it more distinguishable, not so 'bland'

Just compare first screenshot of Heaven TS and the TS from Beta. Significant difference.
@mrrawr You call that significant difference, i call that just some small changes. There hasn't been any big changes to most artwork to begin with (i don't count the artwork for sylvan ts in voting). Still waiting for spiderpolis if that has changed (doubt it will).
And september is comming closer, i really suggest them to delay it. No need to rush things at the end.

As you can see, our city was built around a hill with sacred tree grown at front of it. You say that Sylvan looks familiar to Haven? Well, maybe but our town is bigger and has real moat... and no floating buildings! (besides marketplace but it's exception).
Here in Faery Woods (really one tree) lives Sprites. Butterflies, as we call them, are born from flowers and tuned to seasons - now, in summer, there are plenty of them so if you are allergic, by very careful.
Let's go left - here is Stone Circle with our Druidessses... Druidies... Druidi... Druids! Ykhm... there isn't male and distinction... that's it! You ask if they dance naked? Of course not... well, only during Full Moons (*looks at the sky*) - let's go futher! Now!
Here is Embassy but it's empty now, there is tavern but after last dwarven party it's"out of order" for some time. Ah, here it is... Blade Dancers' Arena, full of half-naked, elves males with oil-abbs. Aren't they gourges? Their smirk is... inviting. If only we could stay here a little longer... but we must go now. :(
Let's stop here and look on the right: you can see our famous marketplace with stairways to lake, Treant Sanctum (really sleeping treants), Dragon Shrine with Sylanna statue and Sun Garden where Moon Does sleep. What? Where do Sun Deers sleep? It's simple - during the day it's Moon Garden!
Where was I? Ah, here. Down there, near lake and city gate is Sacred Grove, when Dryads are born. How? When we elves dies, sometimes we are buried in Treants branches and reborn as Dryads. Yes, even males! Unfortunately our ancestors planted Sacred Groves miles away from Treant Sanctum - it takes very long for treant to walk hin und zurück.
Lets' go up now. There on left is Hunters Lodge. Our hunters every day need to get up very early to go down this road, swim the lake and hunt some food for rest of us.
And here we are - our Capitol and Thieves' Guild. Why both buildings so close? Didn't you ever pay taxes?
It's morning nearly, so we better start to walk down. We must hurry, if we want to reach city gates before evening. Hey! Stop right there! What do you thing you are doing?! No water sliding down on main road!
I hope you liked this short tour around Sylvan town. Personaly I somehow like this town screen even if it has faults. Each building looks like part of town and not (like in case of Haven) a building dropped randomly from the sky.
Also Sylvan ended a lot better then I exepted.

Besides, having such high columns would make the building unstable, easier to collapse. Not certain how good an idea is, but maybe "carving" out buildings in the tree and making them on branches would do.
I think these columns are rather decoration than actually some sort of pillars carring buildings. I think that branches are used that way.

Theres a term for what i see here, "a sea of coloumns". it is a term to mock newbie architecture students! in here, what i see is, you are using veeeery unnecessary high number of coloumns, and using them as sometimes as elements taller then 50+ metres. thats a big waste of space when used for just one single building, this also creates very high pressure to soil with only even itself, creating an ironical stuitaion to its main purpose; not spoiling land.
for solving this, i reccomend you some ways:
1- do remove few of them, and add more buildings in a vertical line, to make more use from those coloumns, in an eclectic style.
2- remove all of them nearly, and draw tree branches to naturally support the buildings, make use of those branches to create an organic, living-city view. organic city, taken form from natural structure of trees that looks like flying in air, or like "fruits" of construction! dryads should be wizards of this architecture
with these ways, you will see how much it becomes clear, eye friendly, thus finding even more space to enchance the view, with additional homes and vegetations, and you must hear councilors about this, civil buildings are currently too few indeed. so i say, two birds in one stone!
those building connecters-roads-bridges are very flawed. why? because they dont acctually serve their purpose, slopeness is the problem. sometimes thye become too vertical, and more importantly they dont have order
with order, i mean, stairs do have some certain order to make us allow go higher levels, the height doesnt change in every step, to create an organic-hand drawn feel you can divide stairs with flat random bridges and also make fancy stair railings.
another way is, making real simple hanging bridges, if you want to try out, that may work very well too. imagine classic rope-wood bridges, imagine how they draw inclined lines in town screen...
i want to you to magine a plants life: they grow from simple froms first and then they create complexity with an eclectic way out of their "past". they grow things over things, vines, trees.. imagine them. sylvan architecture should be growing in a way like that: hall of heroes may be more in tune with capitol for an example. you get what i mean?

by the way, there are some serious troubles with sclaing. esspecially hall of heroes hurts my eye so bad, use humanoid type scling, normal sized elements like, normal windows, normal sized doors to enchance the big buildings, so we may feel its greatness without acctually seeing them as giants with wrong scale. do allow people to compare things, so they may really get the size relations, that will also make your job easier too.

Besides, the night version fits the mood of the Elven Coronation theme better. I just don't see that music working nearly as well with that daytime version.

@Vanriela - Have you even tried it out? Open the townscreen on one tab, open the music on another, and play the music while staring at the townscreen. That's what I did, and I think it works very well.

Nope. Didn't work for me.
Well.. Maybe first part of the melody fits this screen. 2nd and 3rd not at all. The 2nd part is kinda turkish fiesta, and the 3rd part better fits dawn atmosphere (like everything awake and dance), not night.
Hmmm, I voted for night, but now I think day would be better. Or maybe crimson twilight, even better...

- to do the sylvan update (but I expect coming next week with abilities)

- to make some directory for THE NEWS (it is very tiring to click again and again in order to find older articles about skills, questions and answers etc.)
- to add new heroes portraits for sylvan and dungeon after their reveal

Hello all, it seems we had a member quite ecstatic about a particular MMORPG tonight... (massive spamming for late comers). It should now be fixed, sorry for this and good night Councillors :)
Pfft, ha. So what? It does not ruin the developer. But the creation of the 3D screen can delay the development of the game and reduce the income (+ the cost of the process of creating 3D). Your trifle worthless.
I think 2d can be far more beautifull then 3d (ofcourse 3d can look good too), but this artstyle will never come close to that.
I like this beautiful town-screen. For me it fits Sylvan very well! :)

Just like all other townscreens there is architectural, proportions and perspective problems, but more importantly, the buildings don't stand out.
Other than that, atmosphere works this time, fits the lineup IMO.
