as an architect, i like to create things, so editor is in my interest. i liked that we can view our creations in 2D, its essential to see in 2D when planning.

If the editor IS essentially an Ureal Engine editor then maybe you can, but it's difficult to make a low poly model from scratch if you don't have any 3D modeling experience prior. Importing is less of an issue if the editor allows importing. But I have a feeling that we'll be limited to the built-in library.
hi everyone, after this article news, i felt kinda courage to create my own things for game, so i started drawing somethings for a possible INFERNO MODDING. feel free to comment and tell your wishes for a possible h7 inferno, maybe i may listen you :P
my general idea is building upon towers+pits, and making them stacking on each other.
Great buildings! Though I'm almost sure we will get official Inferno in the future expansion, I'm looking forward to see what comes of it :) Unfortunately now I have some thoughts only about units, I haven't thought about buildings yet. But your buildings look great! Good luck!

@Black_Weaver They said in stream that there are no plans for dlc in this game. I'd say it depends on how well the game sells, especially if they are to make another faction in a dlc.

Sure. And I think the game will sell well enough to make some expansion in a year after release for instance. People who love these three factions will buy the game to see them in expansions. And there are a lot of such people all around the world ;)

I didn't like H6 Inferno line-up (juggernauts, breeders, maniacs, tormentors). I'd like to see more classic Inferno units, like Efreet, Nightmare, Horned demon and Devil. Though I like the idea of succubus with whips like in H6.

i have my hopes for heroes 8 in the future. i hope someone will take care of this game and will make it massive: all factions (9 or 10), 4/4/3 system, realistic/serious/darker colors, amazing graphics and gameplay and so on. somehow: huge budget, enough time and right people involved into game's creation or sold rights to someone who will make it

You know Heroes was never about balance. Ofcourse ppl always tried to make the perfect balance, but it is just not really possible. They can try and might come close to perfect. But i think it won't be possible.

when i say darker colors i mean something similar to diablo3 and it has fantastic atmosphere too

Balance is hard. The best way to do it is too make all creatures equal per tier, perferly by making weaker creatures less exspensive, more numerous or have better/more abilities, and reversed with stronger creatures. All factions should be on an equal tier in terms of might and magic, though some faction could sacrifice a bit of the one for more of the other...
Heroes will be never a balanced game, I don't think we should focus on this aspect of the game, it would take away what makes this series so fun to play.
You should atleast try to make the factions equally competitive...
But that is something different then balancing everything. The problem with balancing is that you have chance that everything is going to feel the same. And that is absolutely what we need to avoid. Atleast that is what i believe.

If fortress makes it's return. I just hope we wont get H5 fortress, AKA only dwarfes. I hope they have them driven out of their home and conquer some swamp so we can get some returns, dragon flies and gorgon. Maybe put the wyvern in their and put the thunderbird back in stronhold instead.
h7 Stronghold got gnolls, wyverns and basiliks riders, so well, there's that lol
I think if Fortress sees the day it will be much better than in h5 (in terms of cosmetics at least), we don't have it in h7 because well, Fortress vs Sylvan, duh, impossible for them to make it lol

"Heroes was never about balance" yet you keep determining the "good" amount of factions on Heroes III which had eight at release, but in the context of the whole series it's not a rule but an exception.
5 factions is enough if the gameplay follows. It's like you don't even consider that 5 or 10 different castles could, eventually, not make any difference if things that actually matter are fucked up.
I'm going to be honest here, everything is nice, but the bit about CUSTOM MODELS/ICONS is going to be huge!
If we can actually achieve Warcraft 3 Editor type options in H7, then that is going to be fucking amazing. Importable models, create-your-own creatures? People might be able to make their ideal creature lines and faction edits in the game, which will be MAGNIFICENT.
Custom spells, skills? GET ON IT COMMUNITY!
The moment I actually got hyped about the game again. Go, GO!

That's why a lot of ppl are putting thier hope on the modding community to fix the problems we have right now, wich is a shame that it is needed.
Random Map Generator is a must. It's been always a very significant feature of Heroes. UBI you just can't scrap features off making the game poor. Some things are obligatory, so it's a VERY good thing for the game. You just must make the gameplay interesting because I will not have a reason to use the RMG if it sucks. Please change the hero specializations, improve some spells, avoid the same spell effects, generic specializations and abilities etc. Avoid repetitiveness; it's your worse foe.
You should make each faction unique and distinct. Look at H5. Each factions is so different, different abilities, unique heroes etc. There is still time to make the game worthy.
These are the HUGE news! Map editor already looks great! BUT... but the graphics are still worse than H6 in my opinion > _ <. For me, it is really the ONLY thing, you HAVE TO improve...
So Graphics over Gameplay redesign? How can we still see those kind of comments.. sigh :/
On the other side, the Editor seems really well done. A great news. If you could rework some of the gameplay elements to give more re-playability and listen some of our advices (even better, respond to our comment to told us the real direction you want to follow for this game), I would appreciate.

I really love that more and more games support mods and makes it easier to implement them, what I don't support is the mentality that some publishers have that it's ok to release a broken game cause the community will fix the game for free anyway.
It looks really good :D A bit similar to H3 map editor, which I like. Also the 2D feature. It doesn't look as complicated as H6 (or maybe it was H5 I forgot) And random map generator too :)
The map editor looks absolutely amazing. This appears to have everything the community could ask for and allows everyone to build on the universe you have created to make this the best heroes game ever! So hyped and excited thinking about all the possibilities that await us using the tools you've shown us here! Also a thought I had: Its interesting to note that even though the fans selected the last two factions for this game, the lineup of factions we got is straight out of H4. I like H4 though

More funny is the thing, that H2 had the same factions as H4.
I think the last map editor I used would have to be H4. H5 & 6 editors were a bit more difficult and time consuming. Some of the best written, most enjoyable fan made maps were those associated with H4. This editor harkens back to that time. I look forward to playing around with it.

Не обязательно создавать под это целый сайт. Можно тут создать раздел и дать возможность заливать карты/моды, ну или на крайняк высылать админам, а они пусть выбирают лучшее и выставляют.
Идея хорошая, я тоже примерно про это уже писал. Но, что касается карт, то думаю лучше была бы следующая схема. Создатель карты заливает ее на сервер - с сервера она подгружается как патч через Юплей игрокам - игроки выставляют оценку по 10и или 5и бальной шкале - по оценкам формируется список, где популярные карты в начале, а в конце не очень удачные. Подгрузку карты, можно сделать нажатием на ее превью в меню игры. Для модов же нужен другой подход думаю, например как ваш.
ммм... оф сайт игры со страницей, где игрокам можно заливать карты/кампании/моды, с функцией загрузки этого дела в игру и голосованием. как в стиме, не?
