The town sceen still needs some improvements.
Cabir should be smaller.
The scale in the map needs changes, the hero and the creatures are too big in comparison with the buildings.
Everything else is good
Instead of "some improvements" I'd rather say REPLACING
Does anyone noticed, that water near portal flows from... columns and building? xD
@blueraven9: If it were for me, I'd replace the whole town screen with a new one, but Let's be realistic that's not going to happen. I hope that they at least look at improvemets, stuff like this: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=40500&pagenumber=16
@Rodaff: That looks so much better! I coudln`t believe that the same townscreen would look so nice with some modifications! I wish they would use this as a reference!
Everyone's reaction to townscreens:
Looking good. The map scaling still needs lots of work, but battles look a lot better already! Cabir needs to be a lot smaller, it's almost same size as rakshasa ;)
Indeed looks good so far.
Keep it up boys.
My thoughts exactly
Damn.. Rakshasa is sooooo waaaay toooo small ;p and yes, Cabir too big..
You have problems with scaling limbic :D
actually,it is bigger that rakshasa, almost as big as the cavarlier, bot don't fear, sizez are not final as Ubi-Nox said
Rather than making Cabir smaller, the other units need to get bigger. At least we can see the Cabir, unlike the other units, that can hardly be distinguished among the unit flags and terrain growth.
It'd be too much to change each and every unit. It is not practical, unlike just shrink cabir down.
Screens are very good, but townscreen looks as for children or cartoon/anime's fans. It should looks more realistic.
PLEASE CHANGE IT! :)
Agreed. I'm disappointed in the townscreens.
Here is a fan art screen I think Galaad introduced (i think it looks wonderfull) http://s1370.photobucket.com/user/Galaadlehaut/media/fanmadehavenanim_zpsg8o9i8rd.gif.html
And i certainly hope for them to #GUBTS
Otherwise the graphics outside town and colours and contrast are realy well made!
@feidrota85 You need more upvotes!
That's not my fan art but ty ;) @Artifix_Prime
@feidrota85 (& Galaadlehaut)
This is a great adjustment of the townscreen, and also shows how townscreens could be adjusted by terrain in a great way (miss that feature from Heroes IV, altough the way to implement it wasn't polished, it was really a great push to immersion and diversity to have different terrain looks for the same town)
They just keep ignoring all the fans.. :(
@ fridrota85 yes! the fan art is so much better with only a few changes.
@Blake Yep. I think they are pretty much done with fan consultation at this point and just using the forum to keep buzz going.
Wait, wait... the Cabir is THAT big?? Isn`t it supposed to be little? I mean, it is a core unit...
I think people just assumed they were tiny because of how cute people find them.
sizes are not final, read before commenting
@Kimarous: The Kabir is cute indeed, but I expected it to be smaller because it`s a core creature.
@wasd1200: I know the sizes aren`t final. I just wanted to point it out, so that the devs would fix it.
Adventure Map favorites from Heroes of Might and Magic VI from Nival (Concepts).
Damn, those would've been epic! Of course I find them the best and they are the ones that never made it to the game... -.-
I miss nival..
It's just concept art. It only needs an artist with good photoshop skills.
I miss NWC...
Looks nice, but too fairytalish for me
These screenshots reflects much more original spirit of the franchise than anything released by Ubisoft so far.
No wonder Ubisoft and Nival had a disagreement.
Seeing this kind of images I am speechless. Thats exactly the way I would imagine this game to be. Less real and more fairytale. One can dream.
great!!! with ubi drawing techniques such as rayman and child of light would be possible. would be incredibly nice and 2d graphics would make the game more fast
Nice adventure maps, they are more like "Heroes" saga.
The townscreen is awful, it's too cartoony =(
It needs to be 3D.
They did such a wonderful job in H5. There can be no going back.
Keep going forward.
Use this town screen art and turn it to 3D.
I'm willing to pre-buy the game if they do so.
How about social-funding. :)
Maybe if Nival developed that game, we would have 3D townscreens.
Everybody wants SMALLER CABIR!!!
No doubt! Cabir should be small, and cute!
Everybody who agrees, please, up this vote. More upvotes = bigger chance to small cabir
Lol, 3 out of 5 top comments are already saying that...
I agree, but I don't up this vote. How Come? I don't like those who are trying to cash in on this.
And the developers clearly reduce their.
Actually I'd like the Cabir to keep its actual size. I want other units to be bigger.
if the other sizes are increased maybe the units will not look so tiny on the battle screen. True. But proportions must be kept so cabir (core unit) is not as big as the Rakasha.
If you don't know it, there is a limited amount od upvotes you can get. If you don't want to up my vote, of course you don't have to, but they were made to allow players to agree with each other and to show our "dear" devs, what we want. Levelling and so on is oblý additional bonus and for most players including me are not so important.
Yeah, I mean smaller cabir as regards proportions. To make the other units bigger will help of course too. The main idea is, as mediczero had actually posted, to have tiny, cute cabir, no golem-cabir monstrum.
@ptrsc: Well, if all other units are bigger, THEN Cabir will automatically look smaller (and cuter), duh.
That wasn't me! ;DDDDD
Not only ptrsc uses this hero picture :D
Please take note that in those screenshots:
- We didn’t used default camera angle & high to allow a better overview of environments
- Armies were set randomly and this is an example of big battlegrounds but we have of course a lot of smaller ones (and mediums, and tiny and giant etc.)
- Creatures/Heroes/Items scales are not final at all
- There are glitches and work in progress assets
How about the Town Screens? There are still some perspective issues, and there really should be more civilian building to make them feel more alive
Is there a hint how the governor can be chosen? Is there a special skill required, or...?
we wait for that, that should be more proportionate the whole size of the things and especially that the way of putting the number of creatures in the field of battle changes, because they cover very much the creatures and it turns out to be the ugliest
to change the bells of the numbers of creatures in the field of battle, they are the ugliest and they cover very much the creatures.
It seems on the battlefield, there is free room to deploy your units vertically even with 8 creatures.
As you say this is big, and that there are tiny battle maps, is it possible that some are too small to be able to deploy your whole army? That could lead to interesting setups if so
Will be map camera and battle camera fixed like in H6? Or will be there option to choose different angles of view?
@Ubi-Nox; you should've put this at the top :-p
now i'm not so scared about the gaints on the map ;-)
Please Fix the town screen,it's only halfly complete,it lacks walls, civil buildings, fields, even roads,It doesn't look like a town until these are not added
- landscapes, especially white mountains
- proportions of creatures and buildings - giants with dollhouses
- the low quality of textures ( trees, some units on the map)
- the "empty places feeling"
- colours: I like the mature look but it's a little bit "too grey"
- reusing H6 buildings models
- THIS townscreen AGAIN?!
Whatever team that works on the town screens doesn't seem to give two shits about us or the game. They certainly have no idea what the rest of the game even looks like.
I like the calm use of colours. Rather similar to reality! Same with the empty spaces feeling.
Pux123, I feel the same about "real colours" but I'm just not sure if it isn't too grey here. Even the grass in real is a little bit more green.
That's realistic if it's cloudy, however if sun shines then saturated, yellowish colours are more realistic!
*Awe-* Reminded how human town looks like.
Same ugly ludicrous town screen with no change ? " very soothing"
Actually, lighting is improving, and I expect we will get more improvement as we get close to release. Now buildings start to look good, but background needs to be improved to match them.
If they get somewere near this, i will be happy (thanks Galaadlehaut)
To fix the scale on combat units I'd suggest:
1. Make Cabir same height/size as gargoyles body
2. Increase rakshasa size by about 20-25%
3. Increase djinn size by 10%
4. Make archer less bulky(it looks like badass melee for whom some idiot gave crossbow!)
5. Increase Justicar by 10-15%
6. Lose 5% from sentinel
7. Chaplain 10% increase
After that the models should start looking more natural in relation to each other(and can be scaled together afterwards, not individually)
Or to put it simple : make units BIGGER in general on the battlefield, make them more VISIBLE.
@Galaad it's much more reasonable to scale them first to be in in relation to each other as I said. After that you can change them all together making same change to everything. It's much harder to change every unit individually to bigger and have them look natural in relation to each other.
Yeah just wanted to troll a bit I don't do it much nowadays^^
"Yeah just wanted to troll a bit I don't do it much nowadays"
Yeeaahhh...Necropolis line-up page??
The city looks like from a children book.
You dont like colored pictures?
Which is something I really like about it. It's high fantasy after all, no matter how edgy and gritty they try to be with it at UbiSoft.
Well, after some posts I can assure you the level of TS is adequate to players.
Map looks amazing, such depth...
Town screen looks under-developed :/
I do agree that cabir looks too big and buildings too small, look at the hero, then at the doors, either the hero is a giant or the houses are for hobbits!
The town screen still SUCKS. Please, use one of the fan-made town screens instead.
No, rework it from the scratch....
There is no chance that they are going to do it from scratch. But they could hold art contest (can't say it enough), clearly some ppl have better feeling of what could be right then thier art director or who ever is in charge.
I like the art contest idea, less work for them, better creens for us.
Everybody happy :)
Also can keep us busy too when there is not a lot of news or articles to react on.
Can't up-vote this enough. They're definitely too proud to do the contest, although I wish they would. Some of the arts that have been posted have looked phenomenal.
All nice, but why won't you make Heroes V like town screens? These 3D towns were AWESOME. Haven town with massive angel. Please think about it :),
*sigh* They've gone over this. They view it as too much effort and money for too little payoff appreciated too shortly by too small a portion of the fanbase.
They won't it appears a group of old, grumpy, and apparently always angry NWC Heroes fans doesn't like anything 3D (because they still lived in the past, so everything not Heroes 3 is bad and causing them to always angry) and Developers (Or Ubi) take that a little more serious than we thought. Nevertheless, new engine and an epic 3D actually something I would consider a huge step forward but oh well, at least the adventure maps are beautiful (IMHO).
Wich is actually a baseless assumption on thier part. The same with not giving enough time and resources cause they think the fanbase is too small. Well the Heroes franchise has never been advertised that well. Especially if you compare it with other games that Ubisoft sells. Heck i think even Rayman is more well known then the Heroes franchise. Also it looks like a lot of ppl had forgotten about the Heroes franchise and H3HD brought some of them back (atleast made them interrested again).
Yes, they are not going to make 3D towns. I agree they looked great in H5, and I'd like to see them back again, but it's not going to happen. What NEEDS to happen, at least, is honest effort put toward quality 2D towns that have a consistent art with the rest of the game.
