mr. terry ray I would love to shake your hand, you are a freaking legend and a brilliant writer, and you got no idea how miserable I am we never had the chance to enjoy more of your stories in the world of Axeoth! thank you a thousand times for creating Gauldoth, Emilia, Tawni and all the rest, those characters and plots will definitely not be forgotten as long as I'm alive man lol!

The Gauldoth Half-Dead campaign was by far my favorite story in the series. I was really pleased to find out that Gauldoth is the writer's favorite character! I've always enjoyed the classic concept of necromancers in a fantasy setting, but Gauldoth's story suggested even more possibilities. I just loved the idea of a necromancer who is so reasonable as to suggest that an alliance with necromancers is advantageous for both parties economically and militarily! So cool!

This guy is pure class and very talented writer, the best campaigns were without a doubt the ones from HIV.
If Erwan has half a brain, he would hire Mr Ray right now.

"I enjoyed VI more because of the character drama. A game with an epic fantasy quality like Heroes should, I believe, always have intense stories. Yes, at its core it is a strategy game but the genre is fantasy. We lovers of fantasy love a good, long, dramatic tale. That is really what keeps us coming back."

My hero xD.

Aye aye. Story was pretty good in H6.

Yeah but I didn`t like that you could play in a random order... you uncovered some parts of the plot before you are supposed to (if you understand what I mean). Because of that I prefer linear stories.

Yes, that's obviously true that the story was pretty awesome in H4. IMO one of the best in series but let's admit that the story isn't a current problem of the game. Mechanics is controversial (in a diplomatic language). Let's remember that the story by itself wasn't able to save H4 from a failure. So... The story in an old world is good. But without good gameplay it's just nothing.

@Sempai
I agree that the gameplay aspects are the most important part of the game. But despite all the mistakes H4 had, I have to say that 13years later I still fondly remember the stories from H4, unlike H6 there's nothing worthy to remember from that game
Also IMO the stories are still a problem of the game (not as big as gameplay), the one from H5 & 6 were garbage it's about time we get a decent campaign. And if we want that, we need a better setting (scrap Ashan) and a good writer (hire Ray)

This is the interview I waited for :) I must say it, I love H4 and its stories, so I`m happy that in H7 we`ll see more of them.
I also hope that Mr. Terry will write a fantasy book in the future as he said. I bet it will be great and I would love to read it (just like I enjoy reading through the campaigns he wrote) :)

"As for Heroes and Might & Magic, I try to look at them as a whole. Yes, maybe one version is not as appealing to you as another, but that doesn’t mean it is a vile tumor that must be excised from all memory. Love and support the series as a whole so it will stay alive forever (like I hope Gauldoth will), but if someone disagrees with you don’t freak out. Remember, they love the same thing you do."

+1. Words of wisdom.

He liked the stories of Heroes 6? Should we be worried? Maybe he has not aged well. Seriously guys, at least the basic campaigns of Heroes 6 (the DLCs and the expansion were better) were absolutely awful. Characters with poor personality, cliche stories, stupid lore (like spidermancy),... If that is good, then I am martian.

This 'involvement' of the Man Himself along with the illustrious writer Terry Ray made me write this extremely short story:

28
Marblethrone The Chivalrous
September 11, 2015 18:36:16

With the franchise walking a new path in the Era of Ubisoft, they look over their shoulders and glance back at where they came from. A solid fortress, old and proud, having lost none of its original appeal. They turn around to look at it, and decide to send out two birds towards this old fortress. Not long after, a king rides out ot meet them, accompanied by a splendidly armored knight. The king bears the initials JVC on his breastplate, and his guard bears a standard with T.R. written on it.

28
Marblethrone The Chivalrous
September 11, 2015 18:36:48

"We have come so far," one says against the king and his knight. "But we seek your wisdom for the journey that is yet to come." The king nodded and dismounted, eager to hear the questions of these young travellers and willing to answer them to the best of his ability. After he had spoken, his loyal knight was next. Speaking like a true bard, he related his work in and around the fortress and its adjacent lands. And so, enlightened, the travellers went on their way again, into a brighter future.

28
Marblethrone The Chivalrous
September 11, 2015 18:36:57

As they walk away, and the king returns to his castle, they can't help but think if this meeting might be at the start of something new, something...greater. Something beyond their wildest dreams. They look at each other and nod in understanding. One day they may reach out to the fortress again. One day, they may even join forces. The day when JVC brings his word to a new game of Heroes, and stories from T.R. are being told again. Glorious would be that day! The travellers smile and move on.
