Well, that is a stupid statement. Even if you get the random system, what about the rest of the game? I agree that the random skill system should be included, but it will be futile if rest is being trashed away.
Same can be said about the non-random system. It has to be really good. Besides random is what heroes was always about. I still hope they make a hybrid. But i do think non-random is going to have a hard time beating random.
And as i have said in a other post. If they indeed going for non-random they should make the level up system deep. Like certain other rpg's.
They have time to adjust the game. I just know what I want, random skill system like in the old Heroes games. Didn't they say they wan't to take what's good from the previous installments and bring them in Heroes 7? Then why didn't they take the random skill system? It was amazing and much better than the system of Heroes 6.
I can accept a compromise, but I can't accept no randomness at all. I hope the devs will listen, I don't want another disaster like Heroes 6.
Random system can be also screwed up. Its not guaranteed that if they include it that it will be good. But hopefully gameplay designers are as much talented as their art designers. I support your innitiative and feel sad that there was no reply from devs regarding this yet. Seems as our time had no value for them and talking to us is more less just the job.
@EnergyW : You are not looking it the right way : if the game is good but there is no RS, it will be trash anyway, and by trash I mean, you will enjoy it for a while, then go back to H3 or H5, again.

Я просто хотел обратить внимание, что то изображение - изображение ранней версии Безликого. Просто мне показалось немного странным такой выбор изображения, хотя само по себе оно вполне соответствует Ангелу Смерти (не зря же Белкет так похож на этого "Безликого").
Да можно просто нарисовать падшего ангела типа как в гер 5 , или как в гер 6 арха раскрасить в черно-красное .Будет красиво

The lack of strong damage dealers is combated by the presence of various abilities of weakening enemies, making them slow, immobilizing them or causing extra damage each turn. Also the balance between male and female units are kept, with 2 female (ghost/banshee and Fate weaver), 3 male units (Vampire, Lich and Mummy) and 2 asexual units (skeleton and Reaper). The spider i leave to your imagination. True the only new units are the Reapers and the spiders but i have tried to kept old time favorites, merge some of them (Vampire - Black Knight) or change them a bit (Banshee)

Damage Dealer and a heavy one. Terror aura as well (he is death ;) ) and weakening strike, maybe with agony with every first hit on a target
I really like your ideas, putting mummy so high is an interesting choice, but makes sense considering focus on debuffing enemies. I'd like to see that in action :D
As chiasa, I didn't think of puting mummy as elit, but in fact, it's very logical : they are very well-prepared undead !
Imagine Mummies as old shantiri empire kings, that were buired with powerful charms and artifacts, brought again to life with all of those enchantments and the ability to curse those that are to harm them. For necromancers, they hold the keys to old knowledge (those that keep their mind truly intact) but that knowledge is not used for power or destruction or interference with how life unfolds, but more, with how best to safeguard balance of life and death.
Now the reapers, are very old spirits, so in tune with their state that have become blessed by Asha to be the ones to receive a dying soul and deliver it to her to the moon. But fate is sometimes bent (as the name Fate weaver suggest of the Namtaru) and those powerful death spirits are there to receive the appropriate amount of souls ;)
I really like your line-up, Articun :) I especially enjoy the backstory of the mummies, really fits the lore of the world, I feel. Good mix of new and old units. I also like how the Necropolis armies are gradually getting stronger over time in a battle (with weakening effects). Good job! :)

I really try to be as accurate to the game as possible without going too far or out of balance. there is a lot of history to the game and also a lot of opposing thoughts about how a faction could be or evolve. But in the new universe we need to implement old and new units appropriately using what ubisoft has given us in other games and in lore.
I image the spiders instead of poisoning the target, being able to immobilize it with web for a turn or 2 as an activated ability
why not do both by chance ;)
for example 20% chance to poison, 10% chance to immobilize(evolved ability only). Barrow ability maybe falsely used. Better to be ignore obstacles by climbing over them (as normal spiders do). But active ability to shoot webs could also be nice. Though for some reason, i weight towards chance

Hmm, come to think of it, yeah a chance is better than activation. I thought about it because spiders have some potential :D and ranged skeletons with chance to immobilize seem slightly op to me - a meele unit still risks retaliation. But lowering initiative shots are great
It would make for some slow game i know that, but it could prove to be very strategic as every creature is somehow diverse. There is no similar correlation with other factions, nor does the tempo feel the same. But it is unique and i believe it captures the feel of Necropolis. They live forever so they have patience. They have experienced much so they know time could change everything and lastly "Asha uses all" :)
Maybe immobilize strike is a bit OP, but imagine a chance of 10% to do so. And also, see the core lineup as a whole. There is no true damage dealer, so the trick to victory is to keep your enemy away as much as possible, while you attack with ghosts that regenerate because of life drain and spiders that may poison the enemy and cause extra damage on the consecutive turns. That way, immobilization of a unit becomes vital.
Sure and being as squishy as they are slowing enemies down is logical.
As for Reaper I think it'd be cool if it had active ability to damage all living enemies on adjacent tiles, while healing/reviving neighbouring undead, it could have a limit to be used only once per battle.

That would make him a more supportive unit and i don't want that. There is already too much support in lower tiers. Banshee has her life drain to keep herself from loosing numbers easily, and lowers initiative with each attack. She could be made to have an ability to heal as the ghost in Heroes 6.
The Reaper is instead a heavy attacker that cause terror (to run away specific tiles) to those that try to attack him head on and agony and weakness to those he strikes for the first time.
Also, it looks like some form of summoning will be back in! I hope the Conjuration school sees a return.
It wount, we are going to have the same magic types form H6.
But... the is a chace that prime magic will have Conjeration magic, because it is the type of magic which is used to make constructs and spirits.

Sylvan I would strongly expect a male character, and for Dungeon, it has been represented by them since VI, e.g. Raelag and his brothers. I would like to see Eruina take a more decisive role, but equally I want some men on the council, too.
Spy master is the one which will be telling the story of Dungeon campaign, so it leaves only Sylvan councilor to be un-known

Stronghold will properly be either desert or mountains, because we had tropic island in h6. hope it will be desert (shaar). then we may see wolf riders (but properly not)

I am pleased that the wizards are now being protrayed as sexy beautiful people. It suits the lore of academy as sybarites and people who seek to gain power through discipline.
I like this a lot more than the traditional picture of wizards as decaying, barely alive people. We got the necromancera for that. Haha

Haha sorry. I just like it when magic caster/int heavy classes are holistic. It never made sense to me how they would always be depicted as super frail when a strong body is part of having a strong mind.
By no means are they as physically imposing as strength characters tho... it just sends a better message for me if people try not to suck so much at one in expense of another.
:D I agree, classical 'old wise wizard grandfathers' kinda got boring, this is a fresh breath.(actually Zehir was a fine character too) I would have loved to see battlemages such as the picture in Academy page of this blog, that would have been exciting and brought a different playstyle to Academy.

Have you ever played 3 or 4, every campaign was more or less read read for half an hour, then play a hour. these games has always been about reading a lot of lore.
So no they should keep making a ton of lore which we can digg into.

Third was much to read? - fulishness. Few descriptions during the gameplay (DURING THE GAMEPLAY, not a separate book). The game should contain the whole story inside it. Not outside. See, man?
Of course I did, and I loved a story line in H4, but I don't need 5 page explanations why we had naga in Academy Castle, I just played it as it was!

Agreed. I also would like to remind that it is not the story what made H3 most sucessfull in the serie. People dont play game over and over due to story. Gameplay mechanics is most important thing which wasnt now improved in few years. Having good story and lore is nice and all, but in this case it is at the cost or other important things.
