How can you not like griffin? Everybody likes griffins! It almost seems to me as if ubi was paying someone for these kind of comments... its similar as saying that "I hate hunter in sylvan" or "I hate unicorn and I am glad that deer will replace him". Griffin was iconic unit of heaven faction in 2 most popular sequels. And 3 up votes! OMG. This is not believable.

It never cease to amuse me how someone named "logical.dust" resorts to logical fallacies. Appeal to Common Practice - "everyone likes (blank)!" You just don't like people who don't agree with your personal viewpoint.

@ Kimarous : You got point there in the first part. I rephrase for you: "I believe, that almost everybody like griffin". Reason of my belief I already explained. You are completely wrong about second part. Your conclusion is more illogical than my amusing logical fallancy. I did not express any hate whatsoever vs Pistacianas, I was just puting argument which I found relevant. You however seems to have problem with me as most of what you say is exact opposite of my opinion. (to be continue)

@ Kimarous : I find it hard to believe that 2 people who both claim to be HOMM fans have such opposite opinions. Also I do not understand : You seems to be pretty happy about what devs are doing,.. why you even bother about what people say in this forum/discussion? If I had your strong belief in ubi I definetly wouldnt waste my time here. For same reason I never registered to any Blizzard forum. There is really no point. Considering your opinion your whole presence here is mystery for me.

Imo, the designer's team seem to be a bit lazy. No many differences from regular creatures to upgraded ones. A big lack of fantasy and creativity for this HoM&M :((((

I think the angels look pretty sweet. And the swordbearers/swordmasters are pretty neat. Kind of reminiscent of the paladins from H1 and H2. I also find the focus on human units reminiscent of H1 and H2.

My only gripe is that the upgraded units hardly look any different from the regular unit.

Also - and maybe this is just me - but if you have a choice between angels and swordmasters, is there really much choice? (Especially when you already have legionnaires and justicars?)

UBISOFT. Angels&Archangels (that's how this unit should be called) DO have legs. I dunno why you consequently insist in hiding that fact with stupid chainmail skirts. Also, I think that they don't necesirally have to be armoured. They are creatures of heaven.

I have the same thoughts. Why do Angles/Celestials need that much armour, even if they are some kind of human? They are waay too much armoured, that takes the mysticism away from the creature. And yes, they should have legs instead of that skirt. Celestial in H6 was just awful. That artwork looks almost exactly the same.. I hope they change it.
But that (Swordmaster) looks great, i also liked Paladins in H2. Nice change from that holy, blazing haven from H6.

September 30, 2014 12:38:59

@Banszien, like i said too much armour takes the mysticism and feel of supernatural away from the creature. Guardians need armour, Cavaliers need armour because they are humans. Whats the point of being supernatural if you need armour like humans?
Yes they are participants of war, but this is a fantasy game which need not be so "realistic". that Celestail would fit somewhere else, not in Heroes.

I would say that they should remove the helmet of the angels and give them a huge sledgehammer instead of two swords. and give him some scars that would make him look really awesome.
give him more a wolf feeling instead of this holly bull shit.

It seems like they want to stick with the post-3DO angel look at all cost. Instead of a canical angel, there's this angel-inquisitor or something. On the other hand, the fact that H7 Heaven'll be less 'magical' and more 'cold steel' proves that UBI allows some changes.

I dunno what conclusions can be reached in that matter. Oh well...

14

I don't like heavy armoured angels for several reasons:

1. Armoured angels/celestials/... have been in the series since H5 (and in H6 they were awful). It's cool that we finally got a male angel, but the concept is basacally the same. So, I would say: repetitiveness.
2. Angels ain't war machines. This concept makes them look like medieval IRON-MEN with wings. I liked H3 concept with ancient Greece-like angels.
3. It's kinda difficult to fly in heavy armour like that, isn't it...

14
sur3thing
September 30, 2014 19:21:44

4. Dual swords - They tried it in H6 and... it was awful. Probably the most overdone concept. They want to make angels look awesome, I get it. But with dual swords, heavy armour and all these details it's kinda too awesome, imo.

23
darioio
September 30, 2014 19:44:15

That is very true, angels again look terrible. In all believes angels don't have an armor, or are lightly armored.
On the other hand Swordmaster looks like an orc, heavily armored. I hope with the rest of units developers are going to show more imagination and creativity

5. Also, the figure presented in the concept is kinda... clumsy, unshapely. Short shoulders, small hands? Dunno.

darioio. I agree. But still, I like Swordmaster more than Celestial. With dog-like wolfs and these Swordsmen, Heaven looks less heroic, less SUGARY, less like in H6... As for the 'too awesome' units I've mentioned, I think it's because of the influence of the Eastern culture, Final Fantasy-like games, etc., where heavy armoured flying creatues with dual swords are more than common.

Nice point about dual swords, for angels i mean... Combine that with heavy overdone armor and the catastrophe is ready. Looks like alot of people (including me) doesnt like the look of Celestial, and sees that lazy design. And it is true. If play with creatures like those, i feel like i`m playing with some kind of flying ninja, not with Angels..

I like what I see. Some people said that Sword Master is not a worthy Champion, but I found myself dig on the concept. While it's too "Mountain that walk" to my taste, I am expecting a more Heoes 2's style Paladin. But it will grow on me.

The Celestial however, is my favorite look on all the army (with Cavalier's as the close second) in Haven's lineup. Appearance-wise.

Can't wait to see the Sylvan's line-up result, where will it be announced? Last faction vote?

"that's how this unit should be called" - seraph and celestial are perfect, why would you stick with old, overused names? At leasst hey are creative.

The chainmail skirts look absolutely awesome, it fits perfectly with the armoured concept. And I don't really understand why do you want to see their legs. They are there, we know it, but this way they look better imo.

Also, what is beeing a creature of heaven have to do anything with beeing armoured? They are part of of an army, participating in a war. Of course they won't go there in a silk robe...

And you really shold read the descriptions too. Seraphs are the result of the fusion of Angel and Human souls. That's why tey're not called angels. And they are just partly creatures of heaven.

"Empress Gwendolyn Falcon decided Seraphim would answer exclusively to the imperial crown rather than the Angelic Host." So if they tell them to be a part of the army, which is well armoured, I think it's pretty logical to give them armours too.

September 30, 2014 13:16:04

@Banszien, whats the point of being "angel soul" if you need as much armour as ordinary humans? And there are troops in real history who fought with very little armor and those Celestials are related of Angels! This is fantasy game after all, not everything need to be so realistic and that was so good about H1-H5. Now they are like rest of the haven, only with wings, they dont feel supernatural/mysterious or angels at all with those heavy armours. "badass" maybe for you but they look too humans.

28
ramborusina
September 30, 2014 13:35:51

Not really fan of the too heavy armoring either. Lot of the armor in the pictures, especially in upgraded versions would actually encumber the units in battle, they are too bulky. Justicar has the right idea of not having excess armor to be efficient in battle. The giant shoulder-pads that half the units have don't look that great either in my eyes.

Not really fan of many of the unit-names either, but since they may changed I won't go into that.

14
samuli11
September 30, 2014 13:47:40

Allright Banszien, description: "fusion of Angel and Human souls." Still doesnt make sense why relative of Angel would need armors like humans. How much armour does other high tier units like Behemoths, hydras or Drangons have? None, because they are fictional like Celestial, and that armour takes that fantasy/ mystical feeling away from them..

Whatever, let`s just put all creatures in H7 with heavy trooper armours because they are going into war right? That logic just doesn´t fit in Heroes

14

Banszien, I haven't read the description cause I don't really care about the storyline in new Heroes series.
