Those hero specials are in dire need of some love!
- For starters, abilities that give a free ability are boring. Please give them an actual bonus!
- +2 attack bonus are even more boring.
- Creature specialists should never ever boost growth! If you have one town they are fine. If you have many the special is worthless! Also, you can increase your growth by buying a creature specialist, without even using or levelling him! Can't you give them a stat bonus every x levels or something?
But mah balance!

The problem is if creature growth specializations will be totally removed, then the whole Gouverner system will become almost useless.
But, yeah, +X growth per Y level will be a good decision.
Easily solved, Darkstorm for example "Increases the attack, defense and growth of minotaurs for each level"

Yeah... these hero specials are really looking weak. And it's not just for Dugeon, but honestly all the hall of heroes I've seen so far, have seemed mild and meager... *sigh* yet another thing to be disappointed about.
Hey! I came up with some new "cool" specializations for you:
Bookworm — Hero starts with one free random 1lvl spell in his magic book.
Treasurer — Hero starts with +2 random rare resource.
Hardy — Hero permanently has +1 additional movement point.
Lucky beggar — Hero starts with +2 Destiny.
What do you think? Am I worthy enough to work in UbiSoft?

Dear UbiLimbic. The community knows me as your selfless defender. I am really appreciate your work and trying to defend it from community's outrageous criticism. But what you've done with heroes specializations has no excuse. I don't know how to defend such crap. I don't even want to defend it. You really really should change this feature.
I do not get why they are giving us this sort of bad specializations. In Heroes V those were great and gave every hero a really different feel and I will miss it a damn lot. And as you say it is imposisible to defend them as even very good specializations do not require so much work.
If only they would listen....

I totally agree, for me it's the most important issue, together with skillwheel.
I can deal with poor graphic, copied models, lack of unique abilities, ugly townscreens, but at least make heroes more unique by giving us freedom in choosing skills and specialisations which will impact the game from the beggining to the end, not only the extra, unimportant bonus stable from lvl 1.
I agree. These specializations are good like few weeks (in the game) and then nah... In heroes 5 the specializations were far more better and far more powerful!
We wanted you to change the skillwheel. You haven't, but we have got at least the second article about the Skillwheel philosophy.
But what about HEROES SPECIALIZATIONS? Since this problem has first appeared, we have been ALL THE TIME IGNORED when we were telling you for a change.

And also what about creatures abilities ?! Why so few of them ?! Why so many the same ones on different creatures ?!

If you still want to claim this game is developed in "colaboration with fans", you must change all these horrible heroes specialization and replace them by the ones INCREASED BY HERO LEVEL.

The heroes specializations are one of the biggest PROBLEMS of this game.
We have NEVER received any official announcements about them although MOST of the fans HATE them!
This was one of the aspects people hated in H6 the most so you MUSTNT BRING THEM BACK!
WE WANT SPECIALIZATIONS INCREASED BY HERO LEVEL. This is the exact situation where you SHOULD inspire in H5.
1) All specializations to depend on hero level. For example:
+2 Magic power to Dark spells per each 5 levels
+20 gold per day per each level
2) Battle Bonus to Creature Growth specializations. For example:
+5% to Minotaurs growth per week per level and +2 Defence to Minotaurus in combat per 5 levels
1) Diversity. Different heroes of same class should be played different way on high levels.
2) Balance. Some heroes are overpowered on low levels (i. e. Minasli in beta).
3) Interest. It's more interesting to develop hero, than to hire him, make a governor and boost creature growth for low price.
We also want special abilities or unique power spells that grow stronger per level. Just look at some specials in H5.
Just look at the H5 specials and how fun they were. Zoltan, Deleb, Grok, Kaspar, Galib, Jhora, just to name a few.
The funny part is, they clearly know how to make good specialties. There was one Haven hero in the beta with a healing specialty: She started out with the Heal spell and would cast it one level higher than her Light Magic level. That one actually stays useful until you get GM Light Magic, especially if you don't roll the Heal spell in your first town. And on the other hand, you get "Yeah, +2 attack. Sounds fine."

omfg... darkstorm has a slave background.. i hate that slave minotaur elves rule kind of background. minotaurs are true dungeon creatures. they are not cows, they are not newbies, why ubisoft have to go this way and do whatever i want to see? this really makes me angry. minotaurs deserve much more respect then some wannabe elves and they are much more clever then any other fantasy games show. in which game you see minotaurs as wizards or tacticians but also generals and master fighters? pffff!!!

Bring back the real Dungeon with warlocks and overlords, powerful destructive magic and warriors that rule with an iron fist.

blackdragon is a frigging weak looking butterfly.. which is not a suprise to me.. but still a very sad new. i guess devs think that butterfly as an important h6 symbol to be proud, lol! with those wings, wierd anatomy and scale, its definietly not for heroes series.
medusa is coral priestess, reskin doesnt just work good, it feels sanctuary all over her... besides, why we have to have 1 elite tier wizard creature in every faction when we can acctually have the chance to give a bow to medusa.
i am acctually still lurking in here, but because what i expected from h7 dungeon is mostly coming true and its an unavoidable dissapointment, i prefer to remain silent.. for most of the time.
..man, i cant believe all the potential this dev team misses with game, esspecially with dungeon. rodaff puts the right describtion for a better one, i just cant understand how this dev team doesnt get this.. or get but deny this.

Wannabe cows deserve less respect than the dark elves. They're slaves in this setting, until they were gifted to the elves. Shame they weren't all slaughtered and extinct by now, but alas, we have to put up with these stupid tier 3 wannabe cows infiltrating the elite tiers.

Yeah, they do. And they give the faction more coherence than the circus of freaks it used to be. I don't hugely care if they split the Dark elves and Faceless up or keep them in it, but they're much better than what came before. Of course, Dungeon in V was pretty much what you describe, so blame Limbic for regressing to whatever they thought they thought they accomplished in VI/VII.
sure, it's great that elves have been shoehorned in as the leaders of the Dungeon because of course they always belonged there by logic and popular demand, look back at the archives of 3DO, Astral Wizard, HC and Celestial Heavens and check all the millions of fan posts in 2004 requesting that elves lead the Dungeon lol
they belong so well and set such an acclaimed precedent that I am pitching to Erwin as we speak that bugbears become the leaders of Fortress, dwarves take over Necropolis, lizardmen rule over the Inferno, and giant lobster men lead Haven lol
And whom does "logic" dictate to lead Dungeon? Limbic hasn't changed paths since Nival, it has only changed the aesthetic of the faction, for the worse. I could care less about "fan" opinion preceding HV.

Dungeon was (and should be) the faction of the mythological creatures. Mainly ruled by minotaurs (and some troglodyte heroes) with two distinct classes warlocks and overlords.
You want a dark elf faction? Ok, then ask the devs to create a new faction for them with all the "stealth, poison, backstabbing, elves, faceless and mimes" you want, but not Dungeon.
They are usurpers that don't belong in Dungeon, period.

But we can't have another minotaur hero, the great Spider Messiah Erwan only allows one, two would be too much and could question his Mighty Lore :P

Hero development in this game is total crap, I don't know what people who designed these things were trying to achieve by removing everything that was good about Heroes skill system and adding nothing but restrictions, but it seems they succeed.
Specializations are utterly useless and have no impact on gameplay other than encouraging hoarding secondary heroes
Classes with pre-defined set of available abilities needlessly limit player freedom and number of possible efficient hero builds
Magic divided into 7 schools that are little more than copies of one another (hail 'balance'!)
Skill pizza as a clumsy attempt of making something that visually resembles H5 skillwheel with minimum effort
I have maybe finally understood the development.
For H6 was typical, that players always unlocked the same skills very easily, not matter which faction it was. So, they created this skillwheel which makes some skills unavaiable to make players find different skills each faction. I didnt like it as for the first, but maybe i does not have to be so bad. Heroes specialization are worrying me much more.
